Inclusive Sports: Pickleball as a Pathway for Veteran Reintegration
Inclusive sports serve as a vital tool for reintegrating into civilian life and promoting physical and psychological socialization.
In the Peresip district of Odesa, the first pickleball training session was held for veterans and their spouses. Representatives from the Department of Veterans Affairs of the Odesa City Council also participated in the event.
Pickleball combines elements of tennis and badminton and is known for its high inclusivity. This sport is accessible to individuals of all fitness levels.
The training was led by veteran Mykhailo Zimin, who initiated the inclusion of pickleball in rehabilitation activities.
“We continue to support initiatives aimed at developing veteran policies in close collaboration with the community and the veterans themselves,” emphasized Vladimir Yermakov, the director of the Department of Veterans Affairs.
