Martial Arts Festival in Odesa: Honoring the Heroes

17 December 2025

The MARTIAL ARTS FESTIVAL: UNBROKEN took place in Odesa, dedicated to the memory of Ukraine's fallen heroes.

The Unbroken festival is held in Odesa several times a year, each time honoring specific fallen soldiers. The event features parents of fallen heroes, veterans, and representatives from combat federations, allowing them to unite for a common purpose.

“Such events are necessary – for our homeland and for ourselves. It is our responsibility to keep our word and preserve the memory of our brothers and sisters who gave their lives for Ukraine,” emphasized festival organizer Denys Zharkov, head of the NGO “It Matters.”

Volodymyr Yermakov, head of the city’s Department of Veterans Affairs, stressed the importance of shaping a culture of memory in society: “We need to change our approach to honoring – to form a true culture of memory. This is vital for those who have endured the horrors of war, for the parents of the fallen, and for our entire society. Memory is our strength and our duty.”

The festival featured representatives from various sports organizations and federations. European and world champions showcased their skills in the Japanese martial art of Kudo, MMA, boxing, and adaptive jiu-jitsu.

The event was organized in partnership with the Department of Veterans Affairs of the Odesa City Council.
