Zelensky Calls for Lasting Ceasefire Amidst Putin's Claims
President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine commented on Russian dictator Vladimir Putin's declaration of a "ceasefire" from May 8 to 10, stating that Ukraine needs not a temporary "ceasefire" for Moscow's parade, but a complete and immediate cessation of hostilities for at least 30 days.

Details: In his address, the president stressed that Ukraine has not desired a moment of this war and is ready to collaborate with all partners to establish peace and ensure security. In contrast, Russia continually rejects such initiatives and manipulates the international community, attempting to mislead, including the United States.
According to the president, the ceasefire must not be temporary or for the convenience of Russia, but immediate, complete, and unconditional, lasting at least 30 days.
Direct quote: "Now is yet another attempt at manipulation: for some reason, everyone is supposed to wait until May 8 to stop fighting, to allow Putin peace during the parade.
We value human lives, not parades. That's why we believe – and the world believes – that there is no reason to wait until May 8. The fighting must not cease for a few days only to resume killing again. An immediate, complete, and unconditional ceasefire – for at least 30 days to ensure reliability – is what can provide the foundation for real diplomacy."
