Celebrating Embroidery Day and Family Day
The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, and Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal greeted Ukrainians on Thursday, May 15, in celebration of Embroidery Day and Family Day.
Both leaders highlighted the cultural importance of embroidery and the significance of family values and national unity in the current context.
Zelensky's Greetings on Embroidery Day and Family Day
“Today, we focus on essential values that unite us, our deep roots. Each stitch in our embroidery carries the history, traditions, and strength of our people. It is a bond passed down through generations that we must cherish,” explained Zelensky.
The President also emphasized the necessity of preserving national heritage: “We are committed to preserving our Ukrainian identity for future generations.”
“Happy Embroidery Day and Family Day, Ukraine!” the President concluded.
Shmyhal on the Importance of Embroidery
Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal pointed out that wearing embroidery is a declaration to the world that Ukraine is alive and carrying its culture forward.
“Embroidery is a symbol of the resilience of the Ukrainian people. It identifies us and shows our association with a nation of strength and freedom. By wearing it, we not only preserve traditions but also announce that Ukraine lives in our hearts,” he emphasized.
Shmyhal also reminded that Embroidery Day is celebrated annually on the third Thursday of May.
