Implementation of New Cargo Management System in Odessa Port
The Odessa seaport has launched the implementation of an innovative cargo management system called DocPort, which allows drivers to pre-obtain passes. This system enables the transmission of passes via messengers, significantly simplifying the process. The use of any device with internet access makes this system very convenient.
The main goal of this project is to reduce queues at the port entrance, minimize truck idling, optimize traffic flow, and improve cargo handling efficiency. DocPort also allows for the storage of information about cargo and fleets, as well as preparing entry documents, controlling queues, and quickly responding to issues that may arise, such as vehicle breakdowns. The system also helps minimize paper usage and reduce bureaucracy during inspections.
“In the current conditions of war and high responsibility, it is crucial to ensure speed and control in all logistics processes. With DocPort, we can minimize risks and enhance service quality for all market participants. We plan to expand this solution to key seaports in Ukraine, and Odessa is an important step in this process,” said Oleksandr Semyrha, head of the State Enterprise “Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority”.
DocPort operates through a “controlled entry” mechanism: drivers wait in specially designated areas where they can activate their passes. This allows vehicles that are ready to enter to pass through control more quickly, as the information is stored in a unified database. Drivers and vehicles are registered only once, and the data is accessible in all ports connected to the system.
The system was developed by specialists of the State Enterprise “Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority” and is free for all market participants, as well as open to other companies involved in cargo handling.
“We are building an infrastructure that meets current challenges such as war, economy, and logistics. The creation of digital solutions like DocPort is a step towards enhancing the competitiveness of Ukrainian ports and the transparency of processes,” emphasized Oleksandr Semyrha.
