Restoration of Power Supply in Kherson
Energy workers from the Odessa region have successfully restored and activated power equipment in Kherson after devastating attacks in February. Nearly 2000 residents of the city now have light again.
This was reported by DTEK Odessa Electric Networks on their social media page.
It is noted that 26 workers repaired the electrical infrastructure that was destroyed by Russian military shelling. Teams arrived in Kherson in mid-March.
“The frontline was only 3 to 10 kilometers away from the repair site. The energy workers had to work in bulletproof vests and helmets for safety reasons, as the enemy continued shelling Kherson from the left bank of the Dnipro,” the statement reads.
The specialists managed to restore three high-voltage lines and a substation to provide power primarily to water supply facilities, according to DTEK.
On April 4, 2025, Russian troops struck the Kherson heat power plant with an FPV drone.
On the morning of April 1, 2025, energy facilities in Kherson were again damaged. As a result of the Russian attack, 45,000 subscribers were left without electricity.
On March 27, Russian forces struck energy infrastructure in Kherson and Poltava, violating ceasefire agreements. Specifically, the Kremlin had previously agreed to cease attacks on energy facilities, but these strikes indicate a breach of agreements.
President Zelensky stated that Ukraine would respond to such violations and called on the international community to react to Russia's actions.
