Return of Fallen Soldiers: New Updates
Ukraine has successfully repatriated 909 bodies of servicemen who perished in various conflict zones.
This information was provided by the Coordination Headquarters for POWs.
Details on the return of deceased soldiers
The bodies were retrieved from the following regions:
- Kurakhove
- Pokrivske
- Bakhmut
- Vuhledar
- Luhansk
- Zaporizhzhia
- Sumy
- Kharkiv.
Bodies were also returned from morgues located in Russia.
The repatriation was facilitated by the Coordination Headquarters for POWs, the Ministry of Reintegration, the authorized representative for missing persons, in collaboration with the Joint Center of the Security Service of Ukraine, the Armed Forces, and other state and international organizations.
Once transported, the bodies will be sent to designated state institutions, where law enforcement and forensic experts will identify the deceased.
Subsequently, the bodies of Ukraine's defenders will be handed over to their relatives for burial.
Previous repatriation efforts - what is known
On March 28, 909 bodies of fallen Ukrainian soldiers were successfully returned.
On February 14, Ukraine repatriated 757 bodies of servicemen who died in various sectors.
On January 24, another 757 bodies were returned.
On December 20, 503 fallen soldiers were repatriated.
On November 29, 502 bodies of the Armed Forces were returned.
On November 8, 563 bodies were successfully returned.
On October 18, 501 bodies of Ukrainian servicemen were repatriated.
On August 2, 250 bodies from various directions were returned, including those from morgues in Russia.
On June 14, 254 fallen defenders were repatriated to Ukraine, and after identification, they will be handed over to their families.
