In Odesa, there is an ongoing discussion about where to place the monument to the renowned poetess Lesya Ukrainka. Currently, the location being considered is the Cosmonauts Square, which is set to be named in honor of the poetess.

It is worth noting that the decision to erect a monument to Lesya Ukrainka was approved by the culture commission last spring. Various locations were proposed, including Cosmonauts Park, Heroes Avenue, and Shevchenko Park.

Members of the historical and toponymic commission reported to the city council that Shevchenko Park is not suitable for the monument. This is due to the proximity of an underground toilet and plans for a café to be built nearby.

“The location in Shevchenko Park is not ideal. A site near the Lanzheron arch was proposed. There are both positive and negative aspects. There used to be an underground toilet nearby, which is being replaced, and a café is planned to be built instead. This could create some inconvenience for visitors to the monument,” reported a commission member.

Thus, at this point, the representatives are leaning towards installing the monument in Cosmonauts Square, close to the new PЦУ temple that will be built where an existing building stands.
