Advanced Scanning Systems at Ukrainian Borders by 2025
By the end of 2025, Ukraine will introduce cutting-edge scanning systems at its borders for railway wagons. These systems will enable customs officials to conduct non-intrusive inspections, meaning they can check cargo without opening the wagons or containers. According to the press service of the OVA, the fully automated system operates 24/7 and automatically excludes passenger cars and locomotives from inspections. The scanners can detect smuggled goods, drugs, tobacco products, and other prohibited substances before they enter the market. Modern technology not only enhances the effectiveness of customs control but also reduces corruption risks and speeds up border operations. This is crucial for the economic stability of the country amid the ongoing war and logistics restructuring. The first scanners will be installed at the border crossings of 'Mostyska-2' and 'Yahodyn' (on the border with Poland) and later will be expanded to other areas.
