Fraudsters are using fake video messages in the Telegram messenger to deceive users and extract money.

How it works: The agency outlined the methods used by criminals as follows:

• First, they hack into the user's account;
• Then, they create a fake monologue where the hacked user supposedly asks for financial help;
• Finally, they send this bogus video to the user's friends and acquaintances.

To avoid falling victim to scams, law enforcement advises verifying information if you receive a suspicious video message. For instance, contact your friend via another messaging app or call them. Additionally, it is advisable to enable two-factor authentication to enhance account security.
