Odesa Ports: The Gateway for Ukraine's Agricultural Exports
The Odesa region has established itself as a crucial hub for Ukraine's exports. In January 2026, the majority of grain and oilseed exports were routed through the ports of this region. These ports have become essential for international supply.
According to analytical reports, the maritime route remains the most significant channel for selling Ukrainian agricultural products.
"Exports via Odesa ports continue to be the primary channel for grains, oilseeds, and their processed products. In January 2026, 3.7 million tons were exported, representing 89% of the total volume of these categories," reported the Ukrainian Club of Agrarian Business.
Rail transport ranked second in terms of volume, transporting approximately 0.32 million tons of agricultural products, accounting for 8% of total exports. Other transportation modes showed minimal volumes.
Analysts emphasize that before the full-scale war, the share of exports through the Black Sea ports of Odesa reached 94%, but in the early years of conflict, this figure significantly declined due to port blockades and navigation restrictions. In 2024, maritime exports began to recover as the port infrastructure was improved under the protection of Ukrainian military forces.
Meanwhile, experts note that the operation of the maritime corridor remains challenging due to ongoing shelling and energy risks affecting the stability of export operations.
