New Terms for Kyivstar Subscribers

27 January 2026

The mobile operator "Kyivstar" announced updates to the terms of number validity extension, which will take effect on February 6, 2026, for its prepaid subscribers.

According to the announcement, these changes aim to retain numbers for active users and simplify service conditions.

The new regulations introduce an intermediate suspended state for number retention, streamlining the process.

The total number validity period remains 365 days, but it will now be divided into two stages:

  • during the first 274 days from the last account top-up, the number will remain active, allowing subscribers to utilize all services;
  • the following stage lasts for 91 days, during which the number will enter a suspended state; subscribers will receive SMS reminders to top up their accounts to avoid deactivation. In this suspended state, subscribers can top up their accounts and call service numbers; to restore full functionality, the account must be topped up with at least 30 UAH.

To extend the number validity, subscribers have several options. The easiest method is to top up the account with a single payment of at least 30 UAH. Another option is to pay for a primary service package for four weeks or a month, as well as daily service packages. For users on annual or semi-annual plans, the number validity will automatically extend with each service package renewal.

It is reported that certain financial operations do not affect the number validity extension. Such services include "Extra Money" and transferring funds to other subscribers. The system does not count these transactions as actions to maintain the number's activity.

To check the current validity of their number, subscribers can use the USSD request *114# or view the relevant information in the "Profile" section of the "My Kyivstar" mobile app. These tools provide quick access to current data about the number's status and help avoid deactivation.

As previously reported, the independent French company nPerf recently researched the home internet offerings from Vodafone and "Kyivstar" in 2025 and found that the former provider offers better services to Ukrainians. According to the study, Vodafone has a higher average download speed of 200.48 Mbps compared to 109.04 Mbps for "Kyivstar". Upload speeds are also higher at 196.4 Mbps versus 127.8 Mbps.
