Fire Incidents in Odesa: Heroes in Action
A fire broke out in a residential building in the Primorsky district of Odesa, resulting in a woman's injury. Rescuers carried the victim out of the smoke-filled apartment and handed her over to medical personnel.
According to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in the Odesa region, the fire occurred on the evening of January 19 in an apartment on the first floor of a two-story house on Kinny Street. Household items and personal belongings were engulfed in flames. During the firefighting efforts, a woman born in 1964 was rescued.
"The woman suffered 30% burns and was in moderate condition, and rescuers took her out of the building and handed her over to medical staff. Firefighters evacuated 4 people from the second floor, including one child.
Thanks to the firefighters' efforts, neighboring apartments were saved," the report states.
The likely cause of the fire was a short circuit in the electrical network, and the extent of damage is being assessed. 28 firefighters and 8 pieces of fire equipment were involved in extinguishing the flames.
Today, January 20, another fire occurred in a private residential house in the Peresyp district of Odesa, on Agronomichny Lane. At the scene, rescuers discovered the body of the deceased homeowner, born in 1993.
The causes of the fire and the damage incurred are currently being investigated. 7 firefighters and 2 units of equipment were involved in extinguishing the fire.
Over the past day, the State Emergency Service has also frequently collaborated with other agencies. For instance:
in Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi on Izmailska Street, rescuers assisted the police in opening an apartment door where the body of a woman born in 1938 was found;
in the Primorsky district of Odesa on Shevchenko Avenue, emergency workers helped medics transport a sick woman to an ambulance.
