Lecture on Holodomor Remembrance Day in Odesa

12 November 2024

At the Odesa Museum of Genocide «Territory of Memory», a lecture was held in honor of Holodomor Remembrance Day, attended by teachers of social studies disciplines.

The event highlighted important historical lessons related to 20th-century genocides in Ukraine and their relevance in the context of the ongoing Russian-Ukrainian war.

Educators were introduced to the museum's educational projects and provided recommendations for teaching the tragic history of the Holodomor, considering the age characteristics of students and the current realities of wartime in Ukraine.

Teachers discovered unknown pages of regional history regarding the Holodomor in Odesa, listening to an engaging lecture rich in facts. Specific examples illustrated the signs of genocide against the Ukrainian peasantry in 1932-1933 and the Ukrainian national elite from 1930-1933.

Moreover, educators explored the museum exhibition «Territory of Memory» dedicated to the theme of genocides.
