In Ukraine, November 20 marks the first observance of Children's Day, coinciding with Universal Children's Day.

This holiday was established by the President of Ukraine's decree №355/2025 on May 30, 2025, and is celebrated annually.

Previously, Children's Day was celebrated on June 1 according to the President's decree from May 30, 1998, which is now obsolete.

The Ministry of Defense stated that the Defense Forces are doing everything possible to protect children and their future.

«Today, Ukraine honors the memory of children whose lives were cut short by Russian terrorists. The aggressor denied them the chance to grow up in a peaceful country, dream, and enjoy their childhood. It is the duty of Ukraine and the entire civilized world to ensure accountability for those who committed these inhumane crimes. Our military does everything possible every day to protect children and our future,» the statement reads.
