Restoration of Fish Stocks in Khadzhybei Estuary
In the Khadzhybei Estuary of Odesa, more than 10 tons of fish, including grass carp and common carp, were recently released. This was reported by environmental inspection officials.
As part of the fish stock restoration program, on November 12, 2025, a total of 10,090 kilograms of fish were introduced.
Specifically:
- 4,742 kilograms of juvenile grass carp;
- 5,348 kilograms of juvenile common carp.
Note: the choice of these fish species for stocking is of practical significance, including:
- Grass carp – a natural filter feeder that consumes phytoplankton, reducing its excess in the water, helping to combat water 'blooming';
- Common carp – an omnivorous species that is hardy under various conditions, well-tolerant to temperature and oxygen level changes.
