Elevator Upgrades Planned for 2024

22 October 2024

For the year 2024, a city program has scheduled the replacement of 91 elevators, contingent on funding from the city budget. Additionally, funds have already been allocated to repair 44 elevators that have been in service for over 25 years.
Currently, the cost of replacing one elevator ranges from 1.5 to 2.3 million UAH, depending on the number of floors and the lift's load capacity. On average, it takes up to two months to repair an elevator.

According to the Department of Municipal Economy, new elevators have been installed in residential buildings at the following addresses: 6 Nebesnoi Sotni St., 17 and 29 Simyi Hlodan St. (Ilf and Petrov), 49 Academik Zabolotny St., 34 and 11 Prince Yaroslav the Wise Ave. (Academik Hlushko), and 164 Lustdorf Road.

Experts state that modern elevators are 40% more energy-efficient. In case of a power outage, emergency evacuation of people is provided, allowing residents to reach the nearest floor without delays. This will minimize the likelihood of being trapped in the elevator shaft.

Since 2016, more than 1,500 elevators have been replaced in Odessa. Due to the large-scale invasion, the city's elevator restoration program was temporarily suspended, but work has resumed since the beginning of 2024.

Note
All new elevators are equipped with modern technology: frequency regulation and control blocks for the elevator doors ensure smooth opening and closing. A frequency control block also monitors the main hoist motor, extending its lifespan.
This equipment allows the use of lower-power electric motors, which saves electricity, reduces the load on the elevator structure, prevents jerks during start and stop, and improves comfort.
The cabins of all modernized and newly installed elevators are covered with vandal-resistant materials, providing protection against mechanical damage. The cabins are also equipped with vandal-proof lamps and metal buttons that cannot be ignited or removed from the panel. All elevators are fitted with mirrors and handrails.
