13 October 2025

In the Black Sea, approximately 140 kilometers east of Varna, the cargo vessel EILEEN (flagged under Cameroon) has sunk. This was reported by Maritime.bg.
Yesterday, around 1 PM, the ship sent a distress signal regarding water ingress.
The captain ordered the crew, consisting of ten Ukrainian sailors, to abandon the ship. They successfully evacuated using two lifeboats. The sailors were rescued by the offshore vessel MURAT ILHAN, which was closest to the disaster site.
The cargo ship EILEEN was built in 1993 and is currently managed by a company based in Odesa.
The last inspection, which revealed five violations, took place in Izmail.
Due to violations, the ship was detained in Poti (Georgia) in July, in Astakos (Greece) in June, and in Tuzla (Turkey) in March.
