SECI Delegation Visits Odesa: New Avenues of Support
A delegation from SECI — the Southeast European Cooperation Initiative — visited Odesa, led by Executive Coordinator Mr. Michael Facecas. The delegation is bringing humanitarian supplies, including generators, computer equipment, and medical devices, to the Kherson and Mykolaiv regions.
Mr. Facecas confirmed that, as promised during the previous meeting, preparations are underway for a humanitarian shipment specifically for Odesa.
During discussions, the urgent needs of the city and expected challenges, particularly regarding the heating season, were addressed.
“Thank you for supporting the southern communities and for our meaningful meeting. The military at the front has its assignments, and we fully support them. However, here on the ground, their families, children, and displaced persons remain. We must ensure the city's functionality and are working on it despite all difficulties,” emphasized Odesa Mayor Hennadiy Trukhanov.
Additional energy sources, such as solid-fuel boilers, could provide critical support for Odesa. Currently, the city has 8 such facilities in reserve, but considering various scenarios of enemy attacks on critical infrastructure, the Odesa City Council is discussing the possibility of increasing their number for the uninterrupted operation of social infrastructure.
“We will return to you very soon,” assured Mr. Michael Facecas.
