The Ukrainian government is launching an online certification process for mine action operators, announced Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko.
"From now on, almost all stages can be completed remotely: from application submission to appeals. The only part that will remain offline is the on-site inspection," Svyrydenko stated.
Separate offices will be available for operators and certification bodies, allowing for the quick exchange of documents and comments.
Each stage of the certification process will have clear deadlines, with a minimum certification time of one month.
Currently, there are 125 registered operators in Ukraine, most of whom are Ukrainian, with only 8 being foreign.
"Scaling up and speeding up demining is among the government’s top priorities, as Ukraine is one of the most mine-affected countries in the world today," Svyrydenko emphasized.
