New Social Support System in Ukraine

22 September 2025

To enhance social support, Ukrainians can apply for basic social assistance online via the «Diia» platform.

This was announced by the Prime Minister of Ukraine, Yulia Svyrydenko, on her Telegram channel.

According to her, the government aims to ensure quick access to support for all Ukrainian families without unnecessary bureaucracy.

«We are changing the model: instead of various payments, we are introducing basic social assistance. This will allow families to receive help more easily in difficult situations, especially for low-income families, single mothers, and children whose parents evade alimony payments,» Svyrydenko emphasized.

Applications for this assistance can be submitted through the «Diia» app. «The process is as simple as possible: just a few steps in the app — and you will receive information about your monthly payment. If everything suits you, submit your application. There’s no need to waste additional time on paperwork,» she added.

Svyrydenko also noted that the amount of assistance is calculated individually and is tied to a basic amount, currently set at 4,500 UAH per person in a family.

This pilot project is designed for two years, but the government is already working on making it permanent. «We have prepared and submitted the relevant bill to parliament,» the Prime Minister stated, expressing gratitude to international partners for their assistance in improving social services.

Reminder: The Cabinet of Ministers approved a bill proposing to transform state social assistance for low-income families into basic social assistance starting January 1, 2026.
