Preparing Urban Greenery for Winter in Odessa
Workers from the municipal enterprise «Miskzelentrest» have begun preparing the city's greenery for the upcoming winter season.
This autumn, according to the approved plan, 380 young trees will be planted in Odessa, including plane trees, birches, acacias, and catalpas. All trees are 8-10 years old and have been cultivated by the enterprise.
Additionally, there are plans to plant 1500 shrubs and 3000 units of miscanthus (a perennial grass plant).
The planting activities are expected to commence in the second half of October.
Starting in November, the enterprise will begin the process of winterizing its automatic irrigation systems. Currently, there are about 50 such systems under the management of «Miskzelentrest» located in various districts of the city, particularly in parks and squares.
Preparations for winter are also underway at the «Troyanda» greenhouse facility. The greenhouses operate year-round, and since September, preparations for the next year's planting have started.
On an area of 4000 square meters, work is already being done to insulate the greenhouses and prepare seeds for the upcoming year. Each year, about 1 million plants are cultivated in the greenhouses, including 250,000 spring flowers and 11,000 decorative trees.

In 2024, Odessa will see the planting of 200,000 spring flowers and 200,000 summer flowers. The city will also be adorned with hanging flower pots.
In September this year, greening specialists planted 5000 chrysanthemum bushes, which will soon bloom and beautify the city.
