Honoring Heroes: New Stand in Izmail

18 July 2025

In Izmail, a new stand honoring fallen heroes has been set up in Victory Square – a temporary memorial until the completion of Glory Alley.

On July 16, an informational stand featuring portraits of fallen heroes appeared in Victory Square, a decision made during the ongoing construction of the memorial complex «Glory Alley», reports Bessarabia INFORM.

Next to the stand, 22 flagpoles are planned to be erected, each symbolizing a military unit in which the fallen defenders served. The stand displays portraits not only of the fallen soldiers from Izmail but also of fighters from other communities whose families submitted relevant requests.

Military serviceman Oleg Dyachenko noted that the idea of creating this place arose from the desire to unite the families of the deceased and missing in action, as well as to provide residents an opportunity to pay their respects.

“Here, we hold a moment of silence. The city council listened to us, and we reached mutual understanding. Now, people visiting the city can see our heroes. This is very important. Of course, we wish for each soldier to have a separate banner with information about the fallen, and we insisted on that,” he emphasized.

Meanwhile, work continues on the full creation of Glory Alley with large portraits of the heroes.
