Starlink Mobile Services to Launch in Ukraine
Ukraine will be the first European nation to offer mobile services from Starlink. Messaging services are expected to launch by the end of this year, while satellite broadband access is planned for mid-2026.
This announcement comes from Alexander Komarov, CEO of "Kyivstar," as reported by Reuters.
Field tests have begun under an agreement made with Space at the end of 2024, allowing Elon Musk's company to initiate direct mobile services in Ukraine.
The communication will occur through satellites equipped with modems, functioning like cellular towers to transmit signals from space directly to smartphones.
"The first phase will involve messaging through OTT technologies, such as WhatsApp and Signal," Komarov stated to Reuters in Rome.
He indicated that this service will be launched by the end of this year.
"And likely, by early 2026, we should be ready to offer mobile satellite broadband data and voice services in the second quarter of 2026," he added.
