The upgraded train car will be available for booking, and in the absence of special requests, the compartments will be used in standard mode.

«Ukrzaliznytsia» has successfully completed the modernization of its first experimental passenger car, fully adapted for transporting people with disabilities.

This car has a compartment layout, but instead of 4 sleeping berths in each compartment, there are 6. The space is arranged so that it can comfortably accommodate two passengers in wheelchairs along with two attendants. If inclusive seating is not required during the journey, up to 6 people can travel in the compartment.

Key features of the car include:

• Electric lift with a capacity of 300 kg;
• Wide doors and corridors for easy movement;
• Navigation in Braille and contrasting signage;
• Spacious restroom with shower, SOS button, crutch holder, changing table, and child seat;
• Restroom occupancy indicator;
• Individual power outlets with USB and Type-C;
• Seats with adjustable backrest angles;
• Separate lighting controls in the compartment and at each seat;
• Video surveillance in designated areas of the car.

The car was produced at the wagon depot in Bakhmach. All work took three months and was carried out by qualified specialists.

Before the modernization, the Ukrzaliznytsia team consulted with organizations specializing in assistance for people with disabilities, allowing them to consider real user needs and create a car that meets modern inclusivity standards.

This car is part of Ukrzaliznytsia's systematic work on implementing barrier-free solutions in railway transport. The company is consistently working to ensure accessibility for both rolling stock and station infrastructure for people with limited mobility.
