New Guidelines for Pet Transportation in Buses
For the first time, Ukraine has approved new guidelines for transporting pets in intercity and international buses.
This initiative was developed in collaboration with UAnimals and is a response to numerous requests from passengers and pet owners.
How should pets be transported?
- Small pets (up to 10 kg) – such as cats, dogs, birds, or rodents – must travel in containers or bags with absorbent bottoms. They can be held in the lap, under the seat, or in a separate space (for which an extra seat must be purchased).
- Medium and large dogs (10–45 kg) must be on a leash and muzzled, resting on a mat on the floor. It is necessary to purchase adjacent seats. Dogs are not allowed to sit in chairs.
- Dogs over 45 kg will be transported according to the individual rules of the carrier in specially equipped vehicles.
- Guide dogs can always travel for free, without purchasing seats, next to the person they assist. They must be muzzled and on a short leash.
In all cases, it is essential to have a veterinary document.
