For the first time, Ukraine has approved new guidelines for transporting pets in intercity and international buses.

This initiative was developed in collaboration with UAnimals and is a response to numerous requests from passengers and pet owners.

How should pets be transported?

• Small pets (up to 10 kg) – such as cats, dogs, birds, or rodents – must travel in containers or bags with absorbent bottoms. They can be held in the lap, under the seat, or in a separate space (for which an extra seat must be purchased).
• Medium and large dogs (10–45 kg) must be on a leash and muzzled, resting on a mat on the floor. It is necessary to purchase adjacent seats. Dogs are not allowed to sit in chairs.
• Dogs over 45 kg will be transported according to the individual rules of the carrier in specially equipped vehicles.
• Guide dogs can always travel for free, without purchasing seats, next to the person they assist. They must be muzzled and on a short leash.

In all cases, it is essential to have a veterinary document.
