Within the National Natural Park “Tuzlov Estuaries”, an extraordinary plant known as sea mustard (Cakile maritima) is flourishing, currently in bloom and bearing fruit.

This was announced by park staff member, Dr. Ivan Rusev, a biologist.

Sea mustard is known for its resilience to harsh conditions and its significant role in forming and stabilizing coastal ecosystems. It thrives on sandy beaches and dunes, providing shelter and sustenance for various animal species.

The fruit of the sea mustard can float and disperse through seawater. The seeds contain oil used in both medicinal applications and as a food additive.
