Flag of Hope: A Symbol of the Fight for Our Heroes
At railway stations across Ukraine, a black-and-white flag has been raised, symbolizing hope and faith in the return of our defenders who are currently imprisoned or missing.
This initiative, implemented in partnership with the Steel Foundation under the leadership of Ukraine’s Hero Serhiy Volynskyi, marks an important event during these challenging times.
Since the onset of the war, Ukrzaliznytsia trains have witnessed tremendous sorrow, yet they have also provided hope for thousands of Ukrainians seeking refuge. Thus, raising this flag over the stations is highly symbolic.
“We raise the Flag of Hope to emphasize that we will not stop until all our heroes return home. The black stripes represent loss, while the white signifies hope for their return. This flag will fly until all our soldiers are back,” remarked Serhiy Volynskyi.
“Today, we remember our railway workers who remain captive. We believe they will return. Let these flags wave throughout the country to show support,” added Alexander Pertzovskyi, head of the board of JSC Ukrzaliznytsia.
