New Initiatives for Accessibility in Odesa
Today, June 5th, an important online meeting took place in Odesa, chaired by the Vice Prime Minister for Ukraine's recovery, Oleksii Kubela, alongside Deputy Minister Natalia Kozlovska.
Representatives of the Odesa City Council participated, including First Deputy Mayor Oleksandr Filatov, the city mayor's advisor on accessibility issues Oleksii Morozov, and heads of executive bodies and departments.
The dialogue focused on the implementation of the «Barrier-Free Movement» project and the status of the inclusive tram route «North-South».
Participants emphasized technical aspects of the route's implementation, addressing matters like route marking and action plans.
Currently, Odesa is actively marking the inclusive tram route «North-South». Recently, representatives from the project in Kyiv visited to familiarize themselves with the route plan, resulting in an approved action plan.
The «Barrier-Free Movement» project is part of the National Strategy for creating an accessible environment in Ukraine, which Odesa is actively supporting.
The initiative for the inclusive tram route was proposed by the Odesa City Council, approved by the Ministry of Community Development and Territories of Ukraine, and fully aligns with the goals of the National Strategy.
The coordination of the project at the local level is managed by the Odesa Barrier-Free Council.
