Gas Explosion in Odesa: Homeowner in Critical Condition

A significant gas explosion took place in a private residence in Odesa's Khadzhybei district due to a gas cylinder leak. The homeowner suffered injuries and was rescued by emergency responders in a critical state.

According to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SES), the tragedy happened last night on Oleksiy Kosyachenko Street. The explosion was caused by the leak from a gas cylinder in a residential building.

The powerful explosion partially destroyed the walls and ceiling, and the shockwave caused severe damage, trapping the homeowner beneath the rubble.

"The homeowner, born in 1979, sustained serious injuries with 70% of his body burned. Rescuers pulled him from the debris and handed him over to medical personnel," SES reported.

The 45-year-old man suffered critical injuries, with burns covering 70% of his body. Rescuers quickly provided assistance and called an ambulance.

To manage the aftermath of the explosion, SES deployed 2 units of special equipment and 12 firefighters. They worked at the scene, clearing debris and ensuring the safety of the surrounding area. The victim's condition remains critical due to the extent of his burns, and doctors are fighting for his life in the hospital.
