Development of the Azerbaijani Park in Odesa
The Mayor of Odesa, Gennady Trukhanov, met with Aliyev Ayaz Ali Ogly, a member of the board of the public organization "Odesa Azerbaijani Diaspora 'Birlik'".
During the meeting, the parties discussed the implementation of the project to create the Azerbaijani Park near the 4th station of the Big Fountain. This green area has officially been named "Azerbaijani Park" since 2013. Initial landscaping projects were developed, but their execution was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the ongoing war.
Currently, the Azerbaijani diaspora in Odesa, which numbers over 30,000 individuals in the region, has presented a new concept for the park. This plan envisions not only the establishment of a recreational area but also the creation of a memorial honoring Azerbaijanis who lost their lives in the Russian-Ukrainian war. All expenses for the project will be covered by the diaspora itself.
"We will collaborate with our partners, as Odesa already has a good tradition of parks created by friends of our city. Thus, we have the Istanbul Park, the Greek Park, and now — the Azerbaijani Park," noted Gennady Trukhanov.
The park will be located next to the Odesa racetrack and will cover an area of over 2 hectares.
