Visit of the Swedish Red Cross Delegation to Odesa

Recently, an important event took place in Odesa - a visit by a delegation led by Ulrika Modeer, the Secretary General of the Swedish Red Cross. This meeting was significant in the context of collaboration with donors.

The Swedish delegation had the opportunity to visit the Center for Social-Psychological Support, which provides assistance to internally displaced persons and individuals affected by armed conflict.

Julia Haidarchi, the director of the Odesa City Council Social Services Center, and Lyudmila Tsvitkova, head of the social-psychological support center, guided the representatives of the Swedish Red Cross through the center and discussed the results of their work, which includes active collaboration with the Odesa regional organization of the Red Cross. Thanks to this partnership, displaced individuals continuously receive essential social-psychological assistance and participate in events aimed at their adaptation to the new environment.

At the end of the visit, Ulrika Modeer emphasized the importance of developing local initiatives and resources.

Additional Information

On December 15, 2023, the Center for Social-Psychological Support in Odesa began operations after renovations funded by the city budget. Since its opening, 266 individuals have resided at the center, including 97 children, 4 of whom have disabilities, 38 elderly persons, and 20 individuals with disabilities.

Since the center's inception, specialists have provided 178 legal consultations, 534 psychological consultations, and 469 individual consultations for adults. Social support has been provided to 70 families facing difficult life circumstances, and 65 group psychological events for children and adults have been conducted.
