Initiatives for Promoting Accessibility in Education
Representatives of the public organization «Barrier-Free Space» visited municipal secondary education institutions in Odessa over the course of a week, conducting a series of events on the topic of “Accessibility”.
The meetings aimed to raise students' awareness of the importance of creating barrier-free environments and fostering a tolerant attitude towards people with disabilities.
During the events, students were informed that accessibility is a key aspect of a society where everyone should feel comfortable regardless of gender, age, physical and other differences, with equal rights and opportunities for all.
Interactive lectures, workshops, and role-playing games were held, helping participants understand the barriers faced by people with disabilities and learn effective ways to interact with them.
Guests also shared information about existing initiatives in our city aimed at improving conditions for individuals with inclusion needs.
The events were aimed at fostering sensitivity, kindness, humanity, tolerance, mutual respect, and compassion among students.

The public organization “Barrier-Free Space” was established to support people with disabilities, veterans, and those who have become disabled due to war, as well as their families. The organization works on protecting rights, assisting mobility-impaired groups, and promoting accessibility, inclusion, and barrier-free principles. The year 2025 has been declared the year of accessibility in Odessa.
