Innovative Mental Health Center Opens in Odessa

10 March 2025

A new Mental Health Center has been established at the Odessa City Clinical Hospital No. 10, aimed at providing residents with accessible and high-quality mental health services in outpatient settings.

This Center began operations last year within the outpatient rehabilitation department, and since 2025, it has been functioning as an independent unit of the hospital's outpatient sector. Psychological support remains a vital component of the comprehensive rehabilitation programs offered at the hospital.

The Center is staffed by a multidisciplinary team of mental health professionals, including a psychiatrist, psychophysiologist, psychotherapist, medical psychologist, and clinical psychologists.

When necessary, a healthcare chaplain and a social worker are involved, ensuring a broad range of mental health support, crisis assistance, and psychosocial interventions.

The Center offers specialized psychiatric and psychological consultations, particularly for individuals affected by the war, Ukrainian defenders, and veterans. Efforts are made to raise awareness around mental health, and psychological support is provided to the families of those affected, with specialists offering guidance on professional adaptation for patients.

Additionally, the Center conducts group and individual mental health activities, trains hospital medical staff, and provides training on ethical communication with patients and burnout prevention.

The operations of the Mental Health Center at Hospital No. 10 demonstrate a successful example of integrating psychological, psychiatric, and psychosocial assistance within the healthcare cluster of the hospital network.

Patients are referred to the Mental Health Center by psychiatrists or family doctors.
