Advancements in Stroke Treatment: Insights from Switzerland
Specialists from Odesa City Clinical Hospital No. 10 participated in the 13th Winter Stroke School held in Bern, Switzerland. The event brought together leading experts from 20 countries to discuss innovative treatment approaches and share practical experiences in stroke management.
The School's program included the latest international guidelines for stroke treatment for 2026, case studies of real clinical scenarios, and practical skills training in the angiography room and on specialized mannequins.
The training took place at the University Clinic of Bern, where sessions on managing patients with acute ischemic stroke and workshops on modern endovascular techniques were conducted for physicians.
Training was organized in pairs consisting of a neurologist and a neuro-radiologist, ensuring an interdisciplinary approach, which is a standard for effective operations in global stroke centers.
«This experience is incredibly valuable for us. We were able to see how stroke care is organized in Switzerland, communicate with colleagues from different countries, and discuss challenging clinical cases. It was gratifying that international experts were impressed by our experience and the rapid development of stroke patient care in Ukraine», emphasized Alexander Skrypka, head of the angiographic and interventional neuro-radiology unit at Hospital No. 10.
The modern knowledge and skills acquired during the international training will be utilized by Odesa doctors to enhance the quality of medical care provided to patients.
