A Decade of Rehabilitation: New Horizons for Patients

28 November 2025

The rehabilitation department of City Hospital No. 8 in Odesa is celebrating its 10th anniversary. Its journey began in 2015 when rehabilitation beds were opened in one of the therapeutic units. Over time, the department moved to a separate building, where significant renovations were made, and new rehabilitation equipment was acquired.

The department offers both inpatient and outpatient services for patients dealing with musculoskeletal disorders, neurological conditions, and recovery after strokes.

In the first nine months of this year, the hospital provided nearly 500 outpatient rehabilitation services, with over 200 patients receiving treatment in the inpatient setting. Services are provided free of charge under the state medical guarantee program upon referral from a physician.

The department is continuously evolving and upgrading its equipment. This year, the hospital received new devices, including a supportive treadmill, apparatuses for passive limb development, and stair simulation trainers.

Hospital staff regularly undergo training and participate in conferences and workshops related to rehabilitation. Additionally, the department collaborates with the medical university to train intern doctors in physical and rehabilitation medicine.

Modern equipment and ongoing professional development of medical staff enable effective rehabilitation services at City Hospital No. 8, improving the quality of life for patients, especially in the context of heightened demand for medical rehabilitation for Ukraine's defenders.
