A Brighter Future for Children with Diabetes in Odesa
On November 14, 2025, an event was held in Odesa in support of children with diabetes and their parents, in honor of World Diabetes Day.
This event was organized with the support of the Health Department of the Odesa City Council, the Odesa Regional Family Medicine Association, the Children's Consultative and Diagnostic Center named after Acad. B.Ya. Reznik, as well as various NGOs and charitable foundations.
For several years now, our city has been implementing the informational project "Odesa Changes Attitudes Towards Diabetes". The aim of this project is to raise public awareness about diabetes, its complications, the importance of timely diagnosis and prevention, while also providing extensive educational campaigns and psychological support for patients with diabetes and their families.
This year, we are focusing on living in balance with diabetes. The symbol of World Diabetes Day is the blue circle, representing life, health, and unity in the fight against the disease. Thus, children, their parents, and medical professionals participated in a flash mob where they attempted to balance blue balloons. This vividly illustrates the importance of constant vigilance and control over diabetes,” shared the event organizer, Director of the Reznik Center, Valentina Velichko.
During the event, pediatric endocrinologists from medical institutions in Odesa received thanks and words of gratitude from parents, and the young participants received gifts. Interesting psychological activities and games were also organized for the children, conducted by specialists from the NGO “Psychological Space of the CDC”.
In the lobby, everyone had the opportunity to undergo free cardiovascular metabolic health screening using modern medical equipment, including measuring glucose levels, glycated hemoglobin, cholesterol, uric acid, and anthropometric indicators.
