Celebration for Children in Odesa
In the lead-up to Independence Day, juvenile police in Odesa organized an exciting event for the youth. This initiative was aimed at teenagers on preventive records and children from families facing difficult life circumstances. The event took place at the Odesa Zoo with the support of its management and community representatives.
The children explored the animal kingdom, observing playful monkeys, majestic bears, powerful yet gentle elephants, proud camels, and many other local inhabitants. The young visitors were intrigued to learn about the animals' lifestyles, habits, daily routines, and dietary preferences. Additionally, there were face painting artists, an archer who let them try their hand at archery, and delicious treats.
Representatives from the State Emergency Service also participated, demonstrating fire extinguishing techniques, teaching how to use fire extinguishers, and explaining safe practices with fire, matches, and lighters.
Juvenile police distributed reflective materials and informational pamphlets about road safety and safe behavior around water bodies. They discussed safe practices at home, outdoors, and in school, especially with the new school year approaching. The police paid special attention to mine safety, explaining how to react upon discovering explosive devices: do not touch them, immediately inform an adult or call the emergency hotline 102. To enhance understanding, they showcased models of various munitions and explained why even items that resemble toys found on the street can be dangerous.
“On the eve of Independence Day, we aim not only to bring joy and a positive atmosphere to children but also to remind them of love for Ukraine, respect for people, and caring for one another. Every girl and boy deserves attention, safety, and a happy childhood,” said acting head of the juvenile prevention sector of the Odesa District Police Department No. 1, Yuriy Lukyanchuk.
