New Community Hub to Enhance Civic Engagement in Odesa
To improve interaction between the public and authorities, a new community space called the Odesa Community Hub will be established.
This was announced during a special session of the Executive Committee by the city’s mayor, Hennadiy Trukhanov.
According to the mayor, this hub will serve as a space of equal opportunity and a barrier-free environment where civic organizations can conduct their activities, hold meetings, and collaboratively implement projects to enhance the living conditions of residents and internally displaced persons.
To facilitate this, a two-story building with a large basement on Uspenska Street has been transferred to the Odesa Municipal Youth Center. The capital renovation is to be managed by the relevant Capital Construction Department, which has already prepared the necessary project documentation.
«However, our active youth have stepped up. In December, the city won a grant from UNDP for nearly $150,000 and will act as the contractor for the renovation work. The implementation period is set until March 15, 2025», the mayor explained.
By the decision of the Executive Committee, the project documentation has been transferred from the Capital Construction Department to the Odesa Municipal Youth Center. The mayor of Odesa instructed the head of the Capital Construction Department to assist the youth in the implementation of the «Odesa Community Hub» project.
