Direct quote: "Ukraine is millions of names that we are proud of. Ukraine is the choice made by our people every day. It is millions of actions and feats that together constitute Ukraine. And the social contract among all of us is that Ukraine comes first, Ukrainians – our independence, our rights, our dreams – all of the nation – are above all".

Zelensky also thanked all the nations of the civilized world for their unity around Ukraine and mentioned Polish President Andrzej Duda, who participated in the ceremony.

The president awarded the highest state honors at St. Sophia Square.

He specifically presented the "Golden Star" orders posthumously to the families of fallen Heroes of Ukraine: soldier Ostap Makarov, Colonel Viktor Polyvianyi, Senior Lieutenant Mykola Skidan, journalist, volunteer, and paramedic Iryna Tsybukh.

Additionally, two Heroes of Ukraine received the highest award in person: Junior Lieutenant Petro Gerasymovych and Junior Sergeant Oleksandr Ivantsov.
