Law enforcement has apprehended a fraudster after receiving money for «services» from a conscript. He has been charged and a preventive measure has been chosen. He faces up to eight years in prison with property confiscation.

The criminal activity of the man was uncovered by employees of the migration police in Odessa together with detectives and border guards.

Authorities established that the 34-year-old man was offering «services» to those wanting to evade military service. He promised one client to arrange a «reservation» by influencing officials at the territorial recruitment center. For this, he demanded 3500 dollars.

The fraudster took a 1000 dollar deposit, and while receiving the next payment of 2500 dollars, he was detained by the investigators.

Police confiscated money, a mobile phone, and other items of interest from the suspect.

After gathering sufficient evidence, investigators charged the detainee under part 3 of Article 369-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine for obtaining unlawful benefits through influence on a decision-maker. The maximum punishment for this crime is eight years in prison with property confiscation. The court chose a preventive measure of detention with the right to post bail of 242,240 hryvnias. Investigative actions are ongoing under the supervision of the local prosecutor’s office.
