06 May 2025

Authorities arrested two individuals attempting to illegally transport a client to the border after receiving payment. The suspects have been charged and a preventive measure has been imposed. They face up to nine years in prison along with asset confiscation.

The criminal activities of two residents from the Rozdilna district were uncovered by the strategic investigations department and border guards. According to police, the men, aged 30 and 39, promised a resident of Odesa assistance in crossing the border to Moldova for a fee of 3000 dollars.

Evidence was gathered when the organizers met the client, kept him hidden until nightfall, and then transported him towards the border, showing a route on their phone.

The criminals were apprehended while receiving the agreed payment for their "services." Police confiscated the illegally obtained money, their mobile phones, and the vehicle used for transportation.

Investigators have charged the suspects under Part 3 of Article 332 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which relates to the organization of illegal transportation of individuals across the state border, carried out for profit and in conspiracy. This crime is punishable by imprisonment for up to nine years with disqualification from holding certain positions.

The court has imposed a preventive measure of detention with the right to bail set at 242,240 hryvnias, which one of the suspects has utilized. Investigative actions are ongoing under the supervision of the Primorsky district prosecutor's office in Odesa.

During the pre-trial investigation, police will determine the full range of individuals involved in the illegal transfer.
