Security Service Operation Uncovers Illegal Arms Trade in Ukraine
The Security Service of Ukraine and the National Police conducted a special operation that uncovered an illegal arms trade in four regions of Ukraine: 15 individuals were arrested.
This was reported by the press service of the Security Service.
As a result of the operation, 15 suspects were apprehended in various locations, attempting to establish an illegal arms sale business. Among the confiscated items were Russian Kalashnikov rifles with grenade launchers, as well as a stockpile of grenades and explosives.
In Odesa, an individual was caught red-handed trying to sell homemade explosive devices and grenades, with nearly 1 kg of TNT, improvised explosives, and grenades confiscated from the scene.
In Kyiv region, a 31-year-old local resident and four accomplices were detained for selling trophy weapons sourced from former combat areas.
In addition, two criminal groups were neutralized in Kyiv region, attempting to clandestinely sell a Kalashnikov machine gun, an RPG-7V anti-tank grenade launcher along with ammunition.
In Chernihiv, law enforcement apprehended three members of a criminal group who were seeking clients for the sale of automatic weapons and explosives.
In Lutsk, a local resident was caught attempting to sell combat grenades to criminals. To cover his tracks, he insisted on using anonymous payment systems. The detained individuals have been charged under Article 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine for illegal handling of firearms and explosives. They are currently in custody and face up to 7 years in prison.
