Illegal Land Acquisition: New Developments in the Case
The Odessa regional prosecutor's office has announced charges against the founder and director of a construction company who, using forged official documents, unlawfully acquired a land plot (Part 2 Art. 28, Parts 3, 4 Art. 358, Part 4 Art. 190 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
According to the investigation, the suspects organized an illegal scheme to seize a land plot measuring 1 hectare, which belongs to the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, represented by the Odessa State Environmental University.
To implement their criminal plan, they employed forged documents, provided false information to registries, falsified technical documentation, and involved fictitious individuals.
As a result of these actions, the suspects illegally acquired a land plot on Muscatna Street (formerly Zoya Kosmodemyanskaya) in Odessa, intending to sell it for profit.
These illegal activities have caused the state losses estimated at over 19 million hryvnias.
It is worth noting that the damages have been fully compensated by annulment of the ownership rights to the specified land plot.
The question of selecting a preventive measure for the suspects is currently being addressed. Investigations are underway to identify other participants in the illegal scheme.
The preliminary investigation is being conducted by detectives of the Odesa Regional Police Department No. 1, with operational support from the Criminal Investigation Department of the National Police of Ukraine.
Note: According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in accordance with the law and established by a court verdict.
