Betrayal Among Medical Staff: Case Filed in Court

08 January 2025

The Odesa regional prosecution has submitted an indictment against a medical worker from one of the healthcare facilities in Odesa for state treason (Part 2, Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The investigation has revealed that the accused voluntarily assisted the Russian special services in conducting subversive activities against Ukraine. In return for his "services," the hostile agent hoped to secure a leadership position in the occupying administration if the region were captured.

The man "betrayed" the locations of personnel from the territorial defense units, the State Border Guard Service, and the Maritime Guard in the Izmail district.

Another task assigned to him was monitoring the movement of vessels in the local port and the types of cargo they were transporting.

The occupiers utilized this information to prepare new and adjust repeated strikes in the Danube region of Odesa.

Specific data about the whereabouts of Ukrainian defenders and military infrastructure, including building locations and geographical coordinates, was transmitted to an FSB officer via one of the messaging applications.

The agent was arrested by law enforcement in August 2024. During a search, a mobile phone containing evidence of his criminal activities was seized.

Currently, upon the request of the prosecution, he remains in custody.

The pre-trial investigation was conducted by the SBU in the Odesa region.

Note: According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a court verdict.
