Military Instructor Arrested in Odesa Region for Bribery

On February 21, law enforcement in Odesa reported the arrest of an instructor from a territorial recruitment center.

The investigation revealed that the serviceman demanded 50,000 hryvnias from a citizen for assistance in processing military accounting documents.

"For this amount, he promised to influence military officials to secure documents for deferment from conscription during mobilization", — stated the police.

The amount was later reduced to 20,000 hryvnias, and the arrest occurred during the money transfer. The funds were seized as evidence.

Prosecutors emphasized that the suspect also took the man's passport to guarantee payment:

"In January 2025, he offered his 'help' again, lowering the bribe to 20,000 hryvnias. The citizen informed the authorities and acted under their guidance".

The arrest occurred on February 19. The man was notified of the suspicion under Part 3 of Article 369-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which carries a penalty of up to eight years in prison with confiscation of property. A preventive measure is currently being decided.
