Assault on a Soldier in Odesa: Incident Details

The incident took place on February 22 on Italian Boulevard, where police apprehended a man who inflicted injuries on a soldier.

Preliminary investigations revealed that a 28-year-old resident of the Bereziv district initiated a conflict with military personnel during a document check.

The man sprayed tear gas in the face of one of the soldiers and fired several shots in his direction before fleeing. The victim was taken to a medical facility,

Authorities also mentioned that operatives from the local police unit arrested the offender, who was then handed over to the SBU investigators.

Response from TCC

• The Odesa regional TCC has reacted to the assault on the soldier, stating that the 28-year-old resident of the Bereziv district refused to comply with the lawful requests of the military personnel to present military registration documents.
• "He sprayed tear gas in the face of one of the soldiers and fired several shots in his direction, then attempted to escape," – stated the TCC.
• The SBU has initiated a criminal case under Article 114-1 of the Criminal Code "Obstruction of lawful activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in a special period." The TCC noted that such actions are classified as particularly serious crimes, carrying the harshest penalties. The materials have been forwarded to the court for preventive measures.
• The TCC emphasized that violence against military personnel is unacceptable, and mobilization is the duty of every citizen.
• "Citizens must understand that any manifestations of resistance to military administration directly affect the state's defense capability," – stressed the TCC.
