Arrest of Drug Dealer in Odesa
A 49-year-old resident of Odesa has been detained for the illegal sale of methadone. He has been charged and a preventive measure has been taken. The offender faces up to ten years in prison along with asset confiscation for drug-related activities.
The illegal actions of the Odesa resident were uncovered by operatives and investigators from the Odesa District Police Department No. 1. Law enforcement documented instances where the man sold restricted methadone pills on two occasions. Overall, he received 1000 hryvnias for 12 tablets.
Police caught the drug dealer red-handed and seized the pills he sold, as well as those he stored at his residence, the money acquired unlawfully, and a mobile phone containing information confirming his criminal activities.
«Having gathered sufficient evidence, we notified the suspect of the charges under parts 1 and 2 of Article 307 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – for the illegal acquisition, storage for the purpose of sale, and unlawful sale of narcotic substances, particularly committed repeatedly. According to current legislation, such a crime is punishable by imprisonment for up to ten years with confiscation of property. Judicial examinations are being conducted within the proceedings, and the channel through which methadone reached the suspect and all circumstances of the crime are being established. During the pre-trial investigation, the suspect will remain in custody. The investigation continues under the procedural guidance of the Kyiv District Prosecutor's Office of Odesa,» - noted the lead investigator in the case, Kateryna Boratynska.
