In the Odesa region, police apprehended a military officer who attempted to bribe a border guard with 4000 dollars to ensure a smooth crossing of the Ukrainian border. The suspect, a 38-year-old resident of the Rozdilna district, is now facing criminal charges.
Investigators found that he sought to gain an advantage by approaching the head of the border service inspectors. The offer was documented, and the border guard reported it to his superiors.
After providing the bribe, the military officer was detained. Police confiscated the money as evidence.
Under Ukrainian law, he faces up to eight years in prison. The court has imposed a preventive measure of detention with the possibility of bail.
