Arrest of Drug Dealer in Odesa Region

A suspect has been charged with illegal drug trafficking and has been remanded in custody. He faces up to ten years in prison along with asset confiscation.
The illegal activities of a 43-year-old resident of the Starokozatska community in the Odesa region were halted by operatives from the Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi district police department in collaboration with border security forces.
Law enforcement documented several instances of drug sales made by the man in January, leading to his arrest.
During the search, cannabis and the money obtained from its sale were seized. The substance was sent for forensic examination, confirming its status as a narcotic.
According to Police Chief Pavlo Bobchynskyi, the man had a previous conviction for the illegal acquisition of drugs. For that offense, he received a non-custodial sentence and was on probation.
He is now suspected of reoffending, violating articles 308-310, 312, 314, 315, and 317 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Under part 2 of article 307 of the Criminal Code, the maximum penalty for this crime is ten years in prison with asset confiscation.
The court has chosen to remand the suspect in custody. The drug trafficking channel is being identified. The investigation continues under the supervision of the Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi District Prosecutor's Office.
